The WIVI instruments are real-time playable computer models of real acoustic instruments. But instead of being constructed from woods, metals or plastics, theyre based on the analysis and modelling of the sound and physics of the actual instrument.

The professional studio version of WIVI is normally used by artists, composers and producers for everything from radio hits to Hollywood blockbusters. Now you can enjoy the same expressive musical instruments that professionals have had access to for years, at a fraction of the price.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Q: The octave keys sometimes let go when I play the keyboard?
A: Make sure your screen is as clean as possible! This makes it easier for the iPhone to detect multi-touches.

Q: Why is the sound low-fi on my 1st generation iPhone?
A: The iPhone 2G (1st generation) automatically locks at 8 kHz sample rate whenever the internal microphone is in use. To get high-quality output on 2G iPhones, you must use a compatible headset with microphone.

Q: How do I use it on my iPod Touch?
A: If your model supports it, you can use a headset or an external microphone. If you dont have a microphone, the Wivi Band instruments will lock at the highest dynamics and are still playable, but without wind controller support.

Q: Why are some keys blacked out?
A: Keys that are blacked out are outside of the natural range of the instrument. Most wind instruments only have a 4-5 octaves range.

Q: I get little response from blowing at the Microphone of my iPhone 4.
A: Make sure that microphone amplification is set to 2x in Wivi Band, on the main screen.

Pros and cons of Wivi Band™ 15-in-1 app for iPhone and iPad

Wivi Band™ 15-in-1 app good for

This is so much fun!! Very Expressive. Good samples, good use of breath modulation. Very glad I bouight it.
Im stunned at the realism of these sounds. I use professional sample libraries, and these sounds work perfectly in conjunction with my studio setup. One cable from the headphone out, into my mixer and Im laying down trumpet tracks into my songs. If its good enough for Jordan Rudess, its good enough for me. Could wallander add a harmonica, or maybe a melodica next???
ブレスの強弱にちゃんと反応します。 モバイル版EWI or WX5ってカンジ! 現バージョンではオクターブの切り替えの反応がイマイチなので、そこさえ改善されれば完璧です。 Wonderful !! but,the reaction of octave switch is bad,and improve it,please.

Some bad moments

I own the WIVI brass professional edition for my mac. I was amazed at how much these instruments sound like the pro version of the WIVI instruments. Buy this instead of ANY other virtual wind or brass instruments for the iphone. These are so much more polished and professional. The best interface out of any iphone instruments Ive played yet. This is just plain fun. Totally amazing set of playable instruments with such high quality for 5 bucks!!!!!! BUY IT!!!!!! I absolutely love it!!!!
This would be a five-star rating if the instrument wasnt plagued with random bursts of static. True, the static is rare, but when it happens it lasts for 3 or 4 seconds, and I have to hold my iPhone away from me and wince. Maybe its because Ive got an old iPhone or something, but its really annoying. However, since the plaintive sound of the oboe can jerk tears from a rock, this app stays on my iPhone! Its awesome.
I saw the video of Jordan Rudess using this app and I bought an iPod Touch the next week. Granted, I dont play nearly as well as Jordan, but it still sounds great. I should note I use a Monster Cable SoniTalk microphone headphone adapter and it works fine. What makes this app so attractive to me is the quality of the sounds and the amount of expressiveness you can get with it. The interface is very elegant and easy to use. I also like the transpose feature as well. My complaints are minor and I dont think should deter anyone from buying it. Some notes are louder than others. You can also hear key clicks on several of the woodwind instruments. Id also encourage Mr. Wallender to add even more instruments and/or versions such as woodwind, brass, strings or folk instruments. This app would be a bargain if it were only for one instrument. For fifteen instruments, its a bonafide steal.
I own nearly every iPhone instrument worth having, but, with the exception of Beatmaker, and iShred, they are all novelties. This app IS totally different. I had seen it in the app store, and wondered about it, but never checked it out. Then wivi free came out, I played the flute through it, for the first time in my car. The sound exploded in my head with memories of every beautiful flute price Id ever heard. I bought the full app as soon as I was in range of a wifi network. Each sound is gorgeous, beautifully sampled with just the right ammount of reverb, and vibrato. I cant leave it alone. Im going through all of my song ideas looking for a reason to play a French horn, or a basoon part on one of the tracks. This is the most well executed iPhone instrument by far! It could start a whole wave of musicians with basic piano skills embracing horns and woodwinds in a new and different way. Mastering one of these instruments, in reality, takes a life time of practice, but anyone with a very basic knowledge of how a piano keyboard is laid out could sound like a practiced professional. Thank you for this. My wife bugs me to just play "anything" for her, she finds it so relaxing. I downloaded it on my iPod touch too, pluged it into my PA, and now Im showing my daughter (shes 3) how to play. If you like this type of thing, dont hesitate to buy this, the programmer couldve cut it up into one app per instrument and sold them each for $1.99, but he didnt, he made one, beautifully complex, and inexpensive app that anyone can play. This makes me happy. Thank you.
First I didnt think much of someone elses comment "have option so you dont have to blow", but now I understand it. Some of us non-musicians want just to be able to produce sounds with minimal effort, and thats where it would be really handy, so here is my suggestion to attract even more people to your great program... 1) allow for non-blowing way to play, so that pressing the key and holding acts like blowing -- yes blowing is better, but most of us [non musicians] get tired of blowing, and we just want to use the keyboard 2) on the preview instrument page, have a button to play the instrument, just a few notes to get a feel for how the instrument sounds (like clicking on the instrument plays 10 seconds) 3) for the real musicians, you could come up with a simple device to be a blow-piece, it woudl plug into the data/power connector but just to keep it in place, and it would keep the distance from the microphone (not too close or too far) and have a spit-guard too :-) -- thats a lot to ask, but it would be nice And as an add-on you could come up with some songs and have they keys highlighted in a "teach me the song" addon, a separate application requiring this one perhaps... I do like the the program but i dont play it because of the need to blow primarily... i want to see the keyboard and if i do then my angle is wrong and some notes dont come out because i am not blowing at the right angle... I can play the piano a little bit, but i wanted a saxophone/etc sounds which your application does... like i said many people want to hear the sounds but dont want to put in a lot of effort..... and i think you want to appeal to both the musically inclined and the ones more challenged and impatient ones... :-)
I absolutely love this application. It works great. There is a favorite horn for everyone. I really love them all. You cant beat this selection for the price. One of my favorite apps to play with as I am not a musician, but I do appreciate the sound quality of each of the horns you get to play. I would love to be able to record within the app. but for now this app is great. I am running an iPod Touch 1st generation. I have yet to play this on external speakers. I have had to much fun playing this app to myself.
